Ian gained extensive experience in a wide variety of civil and commercial litigation before concentrating on insurance law over the last 10 years. Ian's particular focus is on professional indemnity defence work for engineers, architects, accountants and lawyers.
Ian acts for a number of insurers but also directly on behalf of clients in the professions.
A significant part of Ian's practice for the last 5 years has been conducting the defences of architects and engineers in some of the larger 'leaky building' claims in Auckland.
Ian has a proven track record of successfully negotiating settlements on behalf of clients in these cases. Ian is an experienced advocate and has managed large and complex claims and defences and appeared regularly as counsel in the High Court and the Court of Appeal.
