John is recognised as one of Australia's leading industrial relations practitioners.

John advises on:

  • Industrial relations, workplace agreement making and bargaining, employment strategies, industrial relations planning for major infrastructure and building projects and managing industrial disputation.
  • Executive and general employment contracts, terminating employment, post-employment restraints and employment policies and practices.
  • Occupational health and safety laws, managing workplace incidents (including fatalities) and prosecutions for alleged breaches of safety laws.
John is a trusted adviser for major employers with many years of experience in a diverse range of industries including building and construction, maritime and stevedoring, automotive, beverages, manufacturing, retail, oil refining, chemical, power generation, mining, airlines, road transport, telecommunications and banking.

John provides specialist advocacy services, having appeared as counsel in a number of major industrial cases for corporations and the Commonwealth Government in both the Federal Court of Australia and Australian Industrial Relations Commission.

Previously, John was a member of the Victorian Bar and lectured at Monash University.
