Pro Bono

DLA Phillips Fox lawyers have a long-held commitment to performing pro bono legal work and it is an important part of our culture.

We encourage pro bono service and volunteering because community involvement is an essential part of who we are. Our goal is to be a leader in the area of pro bono service delivery. We have dedicated pro bono lawyers who work in, and with, our communities to identify areas of legal need, to develop pro bono projects to address legal need, and to ensure that the firm's resources are collectively focussed on an effective and productive pro bono effort.

Our Pro Bono program is:

  • Broad and deep – each year we work with hundreds of individuals who could not otherwise afford legal services. We also act for more than 100 charities, not-for-profits and community organisations.
  • A key objective for our lawyers – our lawyers have a personal pro bono target and are not only encouraged to do pro bono work, they have the time. All our lawyers receive full fee credit for their pro bono work.
  • Effective – to ensure our efforts achieve results, we have dedicated pro bono lawyers working in the community.

At DLA Phillips Fox 3% of all the firm's work is for a pro bono client. In addition, each of our lawyers has a personal target of 50 hours of pro bono work each year.
